April 2010

  • Ormonde Woman - London calling - April 28, 2010 New Fragrance Listing

I remember being in London years ago and smelling Angel everywhere – on the tube, in shops, in pubs and restaurants. It seemed that everyone was wearing it. That happens sometimes with main brand scents – trendy, popular ones, good or bad, seem to dominate the air for a while. I suppose that’s what makes niche fragrances so appealing to me – you don’t smell like everyone else.

  • Bulgari Black - The puck stops here! - April 26, 2010 New Fragrance Listing

Years ago when my mother-in-law visited us from England, she got a real kick out of a sign that hangs over our street: No Ball Hockey Playing on Street.

  • Après l’Ondée - Paris perfume surprise

Photo-Wikipedia - Avenue du Champs Elysées - by Benh Lieu Song

Paris on a sunny Wednesday afternoon in spring……..we’re walking up the Champs Elysées to the Guerlain shop. It’s been a long time since I walked on this famous street and I’m in sensory high-speed mode, trying to connect the present with the past.

  • Passage d’Enfer - A new beginning.... - April 19, 2010 New Fragrance Listing

It started, again, with Passage d’Enfer. In a previous life, I collected fragrances, Rive Gauche, Joy, Shalimar….I wore them with abandon and sometimes nothing else.

I loved thinking about what scent would suit my mood I when I got dressed for the office in the morning or prepared for a night out. Who needed a signature scent? Why choose just one?

  • Timbuktu - Beauty and power - April 30, 2010

Yesterday was not what I call “a great day at the office” - in fact, it was exhausting – started early, and finished late with a meeting. What was to be a brief  review turned into a long meeting with a demanding client, so I was glad when the discussions came to a close and we said goodbye.

  • My perfume journey......so far

My perfume journey started early. By age 10, I was a perfume snob, and before I hit my twenties I was addicted.  I can’t remember a time in my life without perfume. How did this happen?  I blame it on my mother.  I’ve blamed my poor mother for a lot of things, but this perfume thing is truly her fault.
