Hypnotic Poison - Hypnotic? Yes! Poisonous? NO!

Lonestar Memories – Stirring up the dust - October 13th, 2010 - A small fire in a backyard pit by John Sullivan

Elixir Patchouli – Inoubliable! (October 11th, 2010 New Fragrance Listing)

I was sniffiin’ around Sephora on a Saturday afternoon, as is my wont, when I came across Elixir Patchouli by Réminiscence. Now, in the spirit of full disclosure I have to say I’m not a big patchouli fan. It’s an awesome ingredient, and I love it as part of the mix (like in Orange Star by Andy Tauer), but as the star of the show it can be overwhelming, so for me, it needs some taming. I’m just putting that out there. I mean, you can’t love everything right?

My Old Favourites – Gotta try these!

Comme des Garçons Daphne - Interview with the perfume

My newest perfume purchase, Comme des Garçons Daphne, is sitting in front of me, and I wish it could talk. I wish I could speak with this perfume and get to the bottom of my obsession with it. Wait! - do I hear voices? I think I sounds like someone is being interviewed.....

CdeG Daphne - You've been staring at me for the past 30 minutes.

Comme des Garçons Series 6 Synthetic: Tar – The road less travelled

Photo: Comme des Garçons store ( I kid you not) in Chelsea, NYC

I was talking to someone about perfume the other day (natch) and we were talking about a particular scent when they said “Eeeewww! It has synthetics in it!” Her reaction isn’t that surprising given the prejudice towards anything synthetic, especially in perfumes.

Bois de Violette – Purple dreams

I’m dreaming..........

Mitsouko – Holy Grail - September 29, 2010

Photo - Wikipedia, Champs Elysee, Paris

We’ve had a lot of inquiries about Mitsouko, the benchmark chypre which was created by Jacques Guerlain in 1919, so here’s my story about this iconic perfume.

Cèdre - What's in a name?

The first time I smelled Cèdre was from the bottle I owned. It wasn’t a blind buy; it was a gift from a very generous friend who thought I would like it. Well, I love her so I was sure I would like it, at least enough to honour her gift.

Vive l'Empereur - For a hero

I love the feeling of discovery. I discovered the  Christian Louis website one day  while googling another perfume, and found a new perfume destination - Place des Vosges in Paris.
