Habanita – Si! (July 14, 2010 New Fragrance Listing)

Habanita – Molinard – classic fragrance.  I’d read a couple of reviews, but never smelled it, and there it was right in front of me on a shelf in a little store I'd wandered into!! I bought it, thinking what the hell – if it’s horrible I’ll just toss it.

18 Place des Vosges – My Paris address

Safran Troublant – Rice pudding or soul food?

First of all – the name.  Safran Troublant is a challenge  -  Saf-ran  Troo-blon – that’s how it sounds, à la Français.

One of L’Artisan’s Les Épices Trio, Safran Troublant is classified as a gourmand fragrance,  scents with food notes such as coffee, chocolate, nuts, etc. (perfect match for  foodies) – but I think this is a misnomer, because it is much , much more.

Géranium pour Monsieur - Clever, original, but name change recommended

Idole de Lubin – Cuba, and breaking the perfume rules

Idole de Lubin makes me think of two things – Cuba, and breaking the perfume rules – but before I explain the rules and Cuba thing, you need to know about Idole.

Tubéreuse Criminelle - It's not a crime to love it (June 28, 2010 New Fragrance Listing)

Photo: The big, bold, gorgeous rather pricey silver bracelet.

When Kay and I were in Paris, shopping around Le Marais I saw a big, bold, gorgeous rather pricey silver bracelet in a shop window. Well, I just had to try it on. I loved it, but I agonized for days after I first saw it – should I get it? Do I need it (as if!)? Finally, I realized I didn’t want to go home without it, so I splashed out and bought it.

Maharanih - Great Queen, real woman (June 25, 2010 New Fragrance Listing)

Fantastic Man - Sunday Cologne - Foreign and fantastic (June 23, 2010 New Fragrance Listing)

Some great things have come out of Sweden – Ikea, Alexander Skarsgård and Byredo Parfums.

Byredo Parfums is a niche line founded by Ben Gorham in 2006. Initially, the focus was on fragrance products for the home, but by 2008 Byredo had launched its first personal fragrances, most of them based on particular memories and experiences of Mr. Gorham. Currently there are seven fragrances in the line, and I have a few of them, but my first love is Fantastic Man. I bought it at Colette the first time I sampled it.
