Ambre Russe

Posted in

Launched in 2003 by Parfum d`Empire, Ambre Russe is the defining amber scent. Representing a journey across the Russian Empire of the 1800’s, it opens with a cold, sharp note of vodka, along with champagne. As these fade, cumin, coriander, cinnamon come forward and add a spicy warmth. Black tea appears and adds a smoky, exotic note. At the base, deep, gorgeous leather shows up, sweetened with a honey note from rich earthy amber. Incense adds a woody  note while soft vanilla keeps the incense and leather from dominating.
This is a sumptuous scent, beautifully crafted to be smooth, rich and opulent but never dark, heavy or loud.
(NOTE: fossilized amber on its own has no scent. The "amber" note in perfumes was actually ambergris from sperm whales, used as a fixative and for its sweet musky scent. In recent years, labdanum has replaced ambergris).
Notes: vodka, champagne, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, black tea, leather, amber, incense, vanilla.
