Angéliques sous la Pluie

Posted in

Angéliques sous la Pluie is,without doubt, is the most subdued of all the Frédéric Malle fragrances. The website says that “it was inspired by the fleeting whiff of an Angelica bouquet gathered just after a shower”. and contains only 5 notes: angelica, juniper, coriander, musk, cedar.
The first spray releases the juniper, and I immediately want a gin and tonic ( Gordon’s Dry Gin with Schweppe’s tonic water, and a slice of lime, please). The notes now include coriander and angelica– there’s a peppery, sparkling sensation, with a slight bitter undertone - and then the scent moves into the soft sweetness of musk, mixed with the dry wood of cedar. The image changes to damp earth, mist, soft rain, pale sunshine, spring smells.
Angélique sous la Pluie is light and almost luminous, elegant and totally uncontrived. It makes me want to inhale huge breaths of it, and just float away. It's one of those scents that can easily be worn by both men and women who want a quiet, refined scent.
