Ivoire de Balmain

Ivoire de Balmain is a very green fragrance with a heart of lush white florals.  The strong aldehydes project refined elegance, giving it a glamorous but retro-feeling start, which can be difficult for some noses. But I don’t think you should give this vintage scent a pass,  because at the core of Ivoire de Balmain is a fragrant vision you’ll want to discover. Pierre Balmain knew how to make women glow.
You’ll be hard-pressed to pick out individual notes from top to bottom, instead there’s a stream of sensations and smells – cool polished green salty soapy bitter aldehydic spicy floral creamy herbal savoury anisic earthy mossy woody amber-y powdery warm soft musky. In a word, intoxicating.
Ivoire de Balmain is challenging in the top notes, bitter green, saturated and soapy with a polarizing blast of aldehydes, as hard and polished as a piece of ivory, it engages your senses so that you smell and feel its beauty in the same breath. As it dries down into the floral heart, the scent undergoes a transformation like the proverbial butterfly.
It unfolds, little by little, becoming just as beautiful as the beginning, only sweeter from the white florals, sensual and rich, and as the base-notes evolve, this beauty warms and deepens from the spice and wood notes, finishing in the far dry-down as a tender skin scent, faintly fragrant with green leaves and jasmine soap.
