Kay: Hey, BFF how was Paris ?

Gwen: Not the same without you! Everyone was asking why you weren’t there!

Kay: Awww, that’s so sweet! But who did you see, where’d you go, what did you do?

Gwen: The usual – visited my favourite perfume stores, sniffed perfumes, talked about perfumes, checked out new perfume stores, dreamed about perfumes, and finally - bought perfumes.

Kay: It never gets old, does it?

Gwen: It never does, cause there are always new fab fragrances coming out, especially now that it’s almost Spring.

Kay: And there's some of the new purchases, all lined up…Fille en Berlin , Flash Back, Arquiste Boutonniere...

Gwen: And we’re going to be writing about them over the next few weeks. You already wrote about Dries van Noten.

Kay: I think that new Frédéric Malle is excellent! And there’s Terrasse St. Germain by Jul et Mad; Cuir Velours, Enchanted Forest, Perle de Mousse, Marni...

Gwen: But the exciting news is always the special stuff, like limited editions...

Kay: Like the incredible Musc Tonkin from Parfums d’Empire?

Gwen: THAT limited edition is hard to find, BFF, and getting harder as we speak.

Kay: But you tracked it down, my friend – here it is, just begging to be listed.

Gwen: I learned that Mon Parfum Chèri from Annick Goutal is discontinued– after April 2013 there will be no more.

Kay: A very unsung fabulous chypre – thank goodness we have a big bottle of it. Any other news?

Gwen: Well, Séville à l’Aube has moved onto the permanent stock list at L’Artisan Parfumeur.

Kay: So it’s not a limited edition anymore – fantastic news!

Gwen: Sure is - and Denyse Beaulieu, carmencanada at Grain de Musc and the force behind Séville à l’Aube, is coming to Toronto to promote The Perfume Lover, her book about the inspiration for the perfume, which also tells the story of creating the perfume with Bertrand Duchaufour.

Kay: Yeah, her book also has interesting historical info about classic scents and perfumers. When is she coming?

Gwen: Sometime in March – the exact dates haven’t been announced yet, but when they are, we’ll let everyone know.

Kay: Is she just visiting Toronto?

Gwen: Nope. She’ll be in Montréal and New York, too – but it all has to be confirmed. You know, I think we should do something on perfumeniche.com to highlight her visit.

Kay: I agree. How about “Win a L’Artisan carded sample of Séville à l’Aube if you leave a comment”.

Gwen: Oh, I think we can do better than that…….

Kay: You’re right – we WILL do better than that.

Stay tuned, folks, as plans develop, and as we write about our lovely new Paris purchases. In the meantime, check out our posts about the new Dries van Noten par Frédéric Malle, and Séville à l’Aube, the L’Artisan perfume inspired by Denyse Beaulieu and created by Bertrand Duchaufour.
