Nose-to-Nose - Body Cream and Body Butter...mmmmm! Wednesday September 7, 2011

Gwen: Hey did you know that Frédéric Malle has come out with body scents?
Kay:    I had heard something about that. I’m not surprised. Body creams and lotions are a natural extension for a perfume line - it's the whole "layering" thing! It's amazing how layering creams or oils with regular fragrance deepens the scent, and even brings up some of the hidden notes. Which fragrances are being launched - do you know?
Gwen: Well, there are nine unisex Body Lotions, with Lipstick Rose, Bigarade, L'Eau d'Hiver, Musc Ravageur, Noir Épices among them. The lotions are light and are quickly absorbed into the skin – that’s what makes them good for layering, on men and women. And then they have Body Butters, which are even thicker because they’re really meant to hydrate and moisturize, and are probably better suited for women. The scent on the skin is subtle, but lasts a long time.
Kay:    What are the Body Butter flavours?
Gwen: Portrait of a Lady, Carnal Flower and Iris Poudre, and I think there’s a couple of others.

Kay:    Oooh, I want to try them…

Gwen: Well, get yourself down to the Frédéric Malle counter at Holt Renfrew on Bloor St. then, or call them. They'll send it to you.
Kay:    Uh oh, I feel a sin coming on….
Gwen: Well, don’t rush out just yet, I mean cause body creams seem to be the trend among niche perfumers right now. I just read that Annick Goutal has some great body creams and shower gels for men and women like Eau d'Hadrien, Eau du Sud, Mandragore and Ambre Fétiche. You can order them online.
Kay:    And L’Artisan has just introduced La Chase aux Papillons and Premier Figuier along with their Mûre et Musc body lines.
Gwen: Oh, I do enjoy a good dose of fig….
Kay:    Well, you’ll love this. They’ve got body milk, body oil, solid perfumes, body powder, shower gels – it’s a cornucopia of great products! And, I just got a mailer from Holt Renfrew about the new Jo Malone fragrance, Wild Bluebell, and - there's a body lotion!
Gwen: Is it any good?
Kay:    If it smells like the fragrance, it'll be wonderful! Wild Bluebell smells like a fresh-picked handful of iris, purple violet, sweet bluebell and green grasses all scrunched together in a bouquet. It’s such a light, perfect scent that I could sniff it all day!
Gwen: You and Ferdinand.....but seriously, it’s great to have all these body creams to choose from just as the cold weather is coming on.
Kay:    Yeah, now maybe you’ll stop using that Noxzema…
Gwen: Point taken. Now move over and let me at that computer, I’ve got some shopping to do…..
