New in niche

Looking for a new way to wear your ‘fume? Niche house Kilian has launched a line of perfumed necklaces, offering what they call a “visual way to wear [our] striking olfactory collections.” Priced in the 200 Euro range, they are available in a wide range of Kilian scents.

Looking for something a little less pricey? L’Artisan is launching a line of Home Fragrance Diffusers in August, inspired by the four seasons in the “fragrant landscapes around Grasse, Provence.” Price is 39 Euros.

Vintage appeal

“Pick up the phone.” Are you searching for a long-lost scent? Or anxious to find an older bottle of a favourite frag that you’ve heard has been reformulated? Your first instinct—and mine too—is to hunt for the fragrance online. But here’s a tip from a savvy friend: it’s also worth picking up the phone and calling your favourite online and bricks and mortar shops and department stores. Sometimes e-tailers and retailers have stock not listed on their websites, and if you ask, can doublecheck to see if they have that older bottle you’re hunting for.

Deals, deals, deals

Ok, here’s a cheap and cheerful find, courtesy of Denyse Beaulieu at Grain de Musc, who mentioned it in her Top 10 Scents of Summer:  Roger & Gallet’s Bois d’Orange shower gel. It is a great morning treat—and cheap to boot, at under $20.

Nosing around

Italian niche line O’Driu has launched in the United States, at Luckyscent. Check out this interview with creator Angelo Orazio Pregoni, who describes his perfumes as “a kind of pagan Eucharistic rite.”

Makes me want to try it

Gwen and Kay have raved about Naomi Goodsir’s Cuir Velours and Bois d’Ascese. Now the line has launched its third perfume, and it sounds like a beaut: Or du Sérail is described as a “meditation on dried fruit and tobacco.” Oh, and the nose is Bertrand Duchaufour. I’m in.

Just because

Weird Al is releasing a video a day this week, and so far, my favourite is his Blurred Lines parody Word Crimes. Enjoy!
