New in niche

Word has it that James Heeley has a new scent on the way called Chypre 21. There are plenty of Heeley fans here at Perfumeniche, so I’m pretty sure someone is going to find a way to get her hands on this one. I can’t wait to sniff it!

Interested in other Heeley scents? Gwen and Kay have Sel Marin (a fave of mine), Iris de Nuit, Cardinal, Coccobello, Cuir Pleine Fleur and Hippie Rose  on offer.

Nosing around

Check out this interview from a few years ago with James Heeley discussing Oranges & Lemons Say the Bells of St. Clements.

Deals, deals, deals

It’s the time of year when frag houses offer special gift packagings of scents—scent with soap, scent with lotion, sample-sized bottles of multiple scents. I scored two great ones at Sephora this week: a set of Atelier minis and a set of TokyoMilk Dark minis. Online, they have a L’Artisan set, one from Etat Libre and many more. Check out your favourite fragrance retailers to see what’s on offer—after all, Santa won’t mind if you pick up a little gift for yourself!

Vintage appeal

Speaking of the upcoming holiday season, I’m reminded of Caron’s Nuit de Noel perfume. I found one of their lovely vintage bottles in a second-hand shop, and it still holds a hint of the gorgeous fragrance. Read about the vintage version on Bois de Jasmin. You can find the reformulated modern version online on ebay and Amazon, or purchase the limited edition extrait in person at one of Caron’s boutiques in Paris or New York.

Want to give the EDT a sniff? Gwen and Kay have it on offer.

Makes me want to try it

Speaking of chypres, Elena Vosnaki recently posted a list of her favourites on Perfumeshrine and if you’re a chypre fan like me, you’re certain to have fun checking her picks out and diving into her reviews.

Just because

It is impossible to post this week without thinking about the terrible events in Paris. Of all of the posts I’ve seen since, this is the one that has lingered with me. Courageous and heartbreaking.
