Nuit de Noël

Posted in

Created by Ernest Daltroff in 1922 for Caron, Nuit de Noël is an Oriental with woody undertones and the distinctive note - familiar to Europeans but not so much to North Americans - of marrons glacés, or  - chestnuts.

With white floral top notes, the heart notes of green violet, earthy tuberose and iris settle on the warm woody herbal base, and are meant to evoke the smell of the traditional Christmas Night..... "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose........"

Bottled in a clear slender Baccarat glass flacon, with raised dots on the surface which seem to me to represent ice crystals, Nuit de Noël is a perfect winter fragrance.

Re-orchestrated with modern ingredients in 2000 but apparently pretty much the same fragrance as the original.

Notes: jasmine, ylang-ylang and rose, violet leaves, lily of the valley, orris and tuberose, sandalwood, vetiver and mousse de saxe.
