French fashion designer Claudie Pierlot, known for her youthful (read Amélie) designs, introduced three colognes in 2007. I’ve always liked Pierlot’s interpretations of French style, even though my gamine days are long gone, but I was concerned that the fragrances would be too young, too girly. I should have trusted Pierlot. I like all three scents, but Eau de Claudie is a standout.

It has a fresh, spicy opening that softens to a warm peppery heart and dries down to a woody incense base. The result is a fantastic fragrance – not young, not girly  - that can be worn by anybody, anytime anywhere. Only available in Paris.
