This fragrance was on the bottom shelf in the Men's section at Sephora. I gave my wrist a quick spritz, and kept sniffing it for the next 24 hours, absolutely captivated.
The top notes were shocking. Intense vetiver - green, dry, earthy, sour, pungent at the top with a twist of turpentine - vetiver in all its glory.
About thirty minutes into the drydown, the woody/amber basenotes began to play, and changed the scent into something totally elegant and unisex. Smooth, clean, crisply modern, but still with an earthy green undertone, like a freshly-turned garden, topped with a hint of salty/sweet licorice.
I think it's brilliant. And the bottle is brilliant, also - a heavy black glass cube - an inkwell for the "Encre Noire."
Encre Noire is one of my top two most favourite vetiver fragrances. The other is the benchmark for this note, Guerlain Vetiver.
Notes: Bourbon and Haitian vetiver, grapefruit scented grasses, licorice, cypress, Cashmeran wood, musk
