Launched in 2010 by fashion house Balenciaga, Balenciaga Paris is line’s first major scent launch since 1998.
Created by Olivier Polge, this violet-based EDP is a beautiful interpretation of the smell of springtime in Paris where violets seem to bloom everywhere.
It opens with bergamot warmed by spicy pepper. Violet leaf adds a green note, which gives it a slight metallic tang. At the heart, creamy, soft violet and carnation appear, floral and lovely, tempered by cedar and oakmoss so that they never get too cloying. An earthy-woody base of patchouli and labdanum showcase the violet without outshining it.
Soft and subtle, Balenciaga Paris is refined Parisienne chic. Quietly elegant and sheer with no hard edges, it is not a literal expression of smells of the city – no hints of tobacco, cars or dogs – just the remembrance of springtime in Paris.
