Eau Noire is one of a trio of fragrances introduced by Dior as part of their Pour Homme pret-a-porter collection.

Created by Francis Kurkdjian, it is my favourite of the three. It is a rich, verdant fragrance, as the dark green of the juice suggests.

The opening is herbal green from sage and anis. Soon slightly bitter note, along with a hint of spicy curry come from immortelle. Lavander lightens and balances it. Wow! As it dries down the herbaceous element fades and it evolves into warm glowing woody scent tempered by a lovely note of vanilla.

Eau Noire is a marketed as a ‘cologne’, but it has so much more depth and presence than colognes usually do. It’s also marketed as unisex, but I would leave out the ‘uni’.

Eau Noire is exclusive to Dior Homme outlets.

Notes: immortelle, lavender, cedar, and vanilla.
