Sables

Created in 1985 by Annick Goutal for her husband cellist Alain Meunier, Sables is a stunner. Based on immortelle, the evergreen shrub that smells of maple syrup and curry, Sables has a bitter/herbaceous alcohol opening that fades as the curry and maple syrup aspects of immortelle come forward.
 
On its own immortelle can easily overpower a fragrance, in Sables it is perfectly balanced with pepper for heat and dryness, vanilla to highlight its sweetness, and sandalwood, which adds a rich woodyness.
 
The result is a harmonious boozy, spicy, exotic, warm and slightly sweet EDT that is seductive when worn by men and women.
