Rose d’Homme was created by François Robert and launched in 2005 by French indie line Les Parfums de Rosine, which bases all its perfumes on roses, including this one, for men. 

On me, the opening is vibrant and exciting, opening with a note of fresh, bright lemon and zesty, sparkling bergamot. As they settle, an opulent note of rose comes forward. Waxy, fleshy and dark, it evokes a note of lush jasmine that lightens the rose with its floralcy, while a touch of vanilla sweetens it. A note of aromatic, herbaceous lavender joins the mix. It’s clean and crisp, bringing elegance to the composition. At the base, Mandarin orange echoes the opening patchouli and vetiver, woody and earthy, adding warmth to the rose, as a note of soft leather adds sensuality.

Rose d’Homme dries down warm, sophisticated, and sensuous. Rose is center stage here, but what makes this fragrance so appealing is the way the rose transitions from floral and cool to woody and warm.

Rose d’Homme translates into English as ‘Man's Rose’, but not a Neanderthal man. As the Rose de Rosine website says: ‘The man who wears it belongs to a new generation of men: sophisticated, multisensory and free to choose his own elegance.’
