La Myrrhe
La Myrrhe
Introduced in 1995 by Serge Lutens and Christopher Sheldrake, La Myrrhe opens with a blast of medicinal myrrh amplified with aldehydes. Mandarin orange adds a citrusy/sweet note, lotus gives it a floral dimension and bitter almond plays on the bitterness of the myrrh. As these pass, the lovely licorice aspect of myrrh comes forward. Honey at the heart plays on this sweetness and rounds off more of the medicinal edge. Sandalwood adds a creamy woodiness and pepper berries give it warmth. Amber and musk at the drydown expand the heat, but La Myrhhe never gets warm.
Not really warm or really sweet or really floral, Serge Lutens’ La Myrhhe is a showcase for the unique notes of myrrh and the total sum of its parts is a gorgeous fragrance.
Notes: Myrrh, Mandarin orange, lotus, bitter almond, sandalwood, honey, jasmine, pepper berries, amber and musk.
