Vetiverissimo
Vetiverissimo
Created in 2018 by American self-taught perfumer Bruno Fazzolari for FZOTIC, his umbrella brand for fragrances, art, and home goods.
Fazzolari says there are no top notes and only lists spice, vetiver, cedar, resins, and woods. Let me tell you – it's enough.
On me, the opening is fresh and green and sparkling, with just a whiff of vetiver smokiness and dustiness. In time, it gets earthy. It is not dirty, but clean and light, subtly warmed by spices that I could not name if I am being honest with myself and you. This warmth gently evolves into a quiet, incense-like haze. The resins aren’t sticky or heavy; instead, they cast a soft, smoky layer over the composition, beautifully grounding the balsamic note of cedar and milky, green-tinged sandalwood that lingers for hours.
Vetiverissimo is, in fact, a soliflore. What you smell at the start is pretty much what it stays like down to the drydown, giving it a simplicity that leaves room for pleasure. Fazzolari's elegant approach balances these raw elements. He tames a note traditionally known for being loud and unruly, turning it into a seamless daily companion. It works wonderfully across different seasons and settings, transitioning beautifully from a relaxing morning at home to a formal evening out.
Notes: Spice, vetiver, cedar, resins and woods.
