Nº 19 Patchouli Roots

Nº 19 Patchouli Roots
Jean Sauvage created Nº 19 Patchouli Roots for Binet-Papillon in 2021, and it is a patchouli lover’s must-try.
On me, it opens with a shot of pungent patchouli that’s so earthy, woody and just a little boozy that it’s heady. A note of cedarwood offers fresh, woody, and spicy. It links to a note of cistus that’s woody, warm, and herbaceous-faceted. Warm skin opens the patchouli up, allowing a note of rich, creamy, warm sandalwood to mollify it, making it sensual. Spices (is that cardamom?) extend the warmth. At the base, labdanum is resinous, ambery and leather-tinged. It toggles to a note by Peru balsam that’s rich and resinous with sweet, vanilla undertones.
Nº 19 Patchouli Roots is a top ten patchouli for me. It’s a deep, dark, complex patchouli, and it runs throughout the scent, top to bottom, but over time, it morphs into a warm and creamy, luxurious and sensuous stunner.
Notes: Cedarwood, cistus, spices, patchouli, sandalwood, labdanum and Peru balsam.
