Dans tes Bras
Dans tes Bras
Created by master perfumer Maurice Roucel for Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, it was launched in 2008.
Dans tes bras translates into English as ‘In your arms’. The idea behind the fragrance was to create the sensuous odour of warm, salty skin, surrounded by other rich and intimate materials. And since sensual fragrances are in Maurice Roucel's wheelhouse, he was chosen to create it.
On me, it opens with a bright, tingling note of bergamot, followed by a note of sweet, powdery violet, warmed by spicy clove that adds depth and complexity to the opening. The warmth of the clove calls forth a note of jasmine, warm, heady, deeply sensual, and animalic. Then the woods show up: creamy, woody sandalwood and earthy, woody patchouli, reinforced by a note of deep, rich incense. The woods are joined by cashmeran, a synthetic musk molecule that’s a favourite note of Roucel’s. Here, it has woody, mineral, and briny undertones that evoke the scent of warm, sun-kissed skin. Salicylates, smelling of warm sand and suntan lotion, add a beachy vibe that gives Dans tes Bras a tactile feeling of sensuality. A note of warm, creamy, subtly sweet heliotrope is bolstered by a splash of cozy, creamy vanilla. A note of white musk, white enhances natural skin scent and gives Dans tes Bras a supple softness.
Dans tes Bras dries down to an intimate, sensual and refined scent that evokes and encourages intimate, sensual encounters.
Maurice Roucel wanted to create a scent that evokes the intimacy of being in someone’s arms after a day in the sun. Post-coital perhaps? Why not? Maybe.
To me, it smells more of European skin than North American skin. Dans tes Bras, is being in Menton on a hot summer’s day and meeting a close friend for a meal at a place on the beach. You greet them with a hug and a kiss, and at that moment, when you are close up, and your nose brushes their cheek and neck, you smell their day on their skin – a bit of sweat, a bit of fragrance, and a bit of the sun. That moment of intimacy, of entre nous, is what Dans tes Bras captures so beautifully.
